Sneak Peek: Lucy & Ricky ~ {Cantonment Pet Photography by Allison Shamrell}

Wednesday, November 9th, 2011

Yes, their namesakes are who you think they are. And yes, Lucy responds to her name when said in Ricky’s trademark heavily-accented call: “Luuuuuuuuuucyyyyyyyyyy!”

Ricky and Lucy are two adorable Welsh Corgis who live in Cantonment with their mom, Connie. Two family cats (the dogs’ predecessors) were named Fred & Ethel, so it was only natural that the puppies followed the I Love Lucy tradition. Lucy (the tricolor) is spunky and full of life and energy, always running around and checking on where mom is, whereas Ricky (who’s genetically her brother) is slightly more content to relax and stubbornly do whatever he wants to do. Their distinct personalities had us laughing the entire time!

This is one of their favorite places to be in the whole house, Mom’s bed.

How can you ever say no to these faces??

Laying in the leaves at UWF, Connie’s alma mater…

Okay, this is ACTUALLY their favorite place to be: as close to Mom as possible.

Thanks for a fabulous session, Connie! I’ll be in touch very soon!

Sneak Peek: Peanut ~ {Pensacola Pet Photography by Allison Shamrell}

Monday, September 12th, 2011

For those of you who are unfamiliar with my packages, let me give you a quick run-down.

~  The Beagle Package is one hour long

~  The Dalmatian Package is three hours long

~  The Great Dane Package is all day, approximately eight hours long

My most popular session is the Dalmatian, and it’s kind of what I’m known for, because it offers the opportunity to capture a wide variety of locations, not to mention much more time than the Beagle. And I’ll be completely honest: I don’t get to do a Great Dane quite often. But when the right client comes along, who’s willing to spend the day with me and get the most incredible “day in the life”-type of experience, it’s nothing short of magic.

And that’s exactly what happened on Friday! I had the pleasure of spending the day with Peanut, an adorable mini Aussie, and her mom Karyn. We traveled all over Pensacola, and I just don’t think a normal Sneak Peek is enough for this session. So take a minute and see how we spent our Friday together!

First, in the early morning hours when the sun was still gently filtering through the trees, we went to the park near Peanut’s house.

Running around in the grass was fun, but one of Peanut’s favorite things is to climb up on the playground!

That was a little tiring, though, so we stopped for a few beignets at Seville Quarter!

Don’t worry, we didn’t let her eat a whole beignet… but you might notice a few extra white spots on her face!

We had a bit more fun around downtown Pensacola…

And then headed to the studio!

But soon enough, someone got very tired from her exciting morning… look at that sad face!
We didn’t want to subject her to any more pain in the studio, so we took a nap break at home.

Once the nap was done, we headed next door to see if Peanut’s best friend Cooper was home!

And after that, we drove through Pensacola…

And didn’t stop until we made it to the beach!

That’s all I can show you for now (biggest Sneak Peek ever!) but I promise you’ll be seeing much more of Peanut.
Thanks, Karyn, for a fabulous day with your incredibly special little dog. Now… to edit the MOUNTAIN of her images! :)

Mini-Sessions!

Friday, September 2nd, 2011

It’s that time again – and sadly, it’s the last time. For those of you who aren’t familiar with me, I’m Allison, and I’m married to a wonderful man who happens to be a Naval officer. His training here in Florida is nearly over, and we’ll be reassigned (to who-knows-where) in about a month.

But I just couldn’t leave the area without spending one last day at 3 Dogs & A Chick (the area’s premier pet boutique & bakery) for more Mini-Sessions! They’ve always sold out in the past, and registration opened TODAY. So keep reading for all the details…

Sneak Peek: Farley & Dougal ~ {Pensacola Pet Photography by Allison Shamrell}

Monday, August 29th, 2011

I had a great time photographing brother-and-sister duo Farley and Dougal on Saturday! But I was kind of surprised that I was able to meet them at all: you see, there were several forces at work in the universe trying to stop this session from happening.

  1. Farley (the beautiful shepherd mix) and Dougal (the cream-colored terrier mix) live in Atlanta, Georgia. Very far away from Pensacola.
  2. Their mom and dad, Carey & Scott, only had about 24 hours’ notice that they were able to visit the Pensacola area – and they were staying in Gulf Shores, AL, not even Pensacola!
  3. I had an event scheduled for all-day Saturday. (It was cancelled at the last minute!)
  4. The Great Insect Infestation of 2011. Seriously – Bay Bluffs Park has never been so buggy. And the flies and ants followed us to Seville Park, too!
  5. A bunch of washed-up jellyfish freakishly appeared on the beach. I would blame that on Hurricane Irene if I could, but honestly I have no idea why they were all there. It was a little scary! I think they were trying to stop us too… although why the jellyfish population is angry at me, I have no idea.

But despite all the obstacles, we had a wonderful afternoon! Carey + Scott, I have a feeling your gallery is going to be supersized. Enjoy your Sneak Peek!

I’m pretty sure Farley is thinking, “come on lady, I want that treat!”

I had to leave you with one image of Farley’s incredible tongue! She is a goofball :)

Miss Ada Mae ~ {Pensacola Pet Photography by Allison Shamrell}

Saturday, August 27th, 2011

Can I be completely honest?

I think this dog is ADORABLE.

Ada Mae (if you missed her Sneak Peek) is 1/4 dachshund, 1/4 rat terrier, and 1/2 chihuahua. And for being a mixture of those breeds, and only a year old, she’s remarkably well-behaved. This little lady (yes, that’s the best word to describe her: lady) kept her mother Nora and I laughing during the entire session. Nora, thanks so much for bringing in your downright charming pup!
