Niceville Pet Photography: Memphis, Gracie & Chloe

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2012

You know how this summer was pretty rainy? Like, rainier than most summers? Yeah, I do too, and so does Meredith. She’s Memphis, Gracie & Chloe’s mom, and we’ve been planning this session since JUNE! The absolutely ridiculous weather forced us to keep rescheduling until now, so first of all, Meredith should be commended for having the patience of a saint. But I already knew she’d be patient – she’s a first grade teacher! I was so excited to finally meet Meredith and her dogs in person; I felt like we were friends already from all the times we’d communicated back and forth! And our session was SO much fun with her three fur-babies; let me introduce you!

This is Chloe, a five-year-old pug. She loooooved being the center of attention! (what a cutie, right?)

A pug sits at a woman's feet on a dock.

Oh, Chloe’s face. Don’t you just want to give her everything she could ever want? Sigh. On the right is Memphis, a ten-year-old pug. I love that crazy running look that pugs get! I posted another (slightly calmer) photo of him to the Facebook page on Saturday.

A pug looks up at the camera and one runs through green grass.

Memphis’ little paws…

And here’s big sis Gracie! She’s a boxer mix (I’m guessing with some pit bull, too) and she’s also five years old.

Dogs on a dock and looking out a car window.

Two pugs sit on a concrete bench, with water in the background.

Gracie has a bit of trust issues, so I saw both of these faces pretty often throughout the session… ha!

A boxer - pit bull mixx smiles and barks at the camera.

Gracie can MOVE!

That’s it for now… probably one of the biggest Sneak Peeks I’ve ever posted, since I’m going on out of town for a bit. Meredith, thank you again for being so wonderful to work with – and please say hi to the pups for me! I’ve got SO many more photos to show you (remember Chloe on the blue+green comforter?) so remember to watch the Facebook page for updates! :)

Big Dogs in Pretty Places

Wednesday, September 26th, 2012

Oh, I just loved this session! I shared a fantastic morning with Jamie, Rich & their three dogs, and when I try and think about what specifically made this session so great, I can’t just think of one thing:

~  We started the day at a relative’s farm out in Molino. Future clients: if you have access to wide open spaces and/or beautiful property out in the country, PLEASE let me know! This was a great spot to start our day!

~  We took a sweet ride in an open-air Jeep.

~  If you’re a regular blog follower, you know: this session was (in part) my birthday gift to myself! Because in two years of business, I had never photographed a Bernese mountain dog, and I think they’re such beautiful dogs. So it was my pleasure to meet Juno the Bernese – and she didn’t disappoint!

~  The two other dogs were a golden retriever and a chocolate lab. Hellooooooo happy dogs.

But enough talk! Let’s get to the photos! This is an extra-large Sneak Peek so here we go…

Let’s start with Juno! She’s 3 years old, she loooooooves that ball, and as you can see, she listens when her mom talks to her. (a.dorable.)

A fun Bernese mountain dog playing with a ball and with her owner.

Sydney is the next-oldest at 7, and she’s a total goofball! I love her “turtle” pose in the studio.

Last but certainly not least, at 14 years young, is Shiva. She is a sweet girl and loves playing with her parents.

Jamie & Rich, thank you so much for a session that was nonstop fun. Your gallery is sizing up to be extra large – I can’t wait to see you all again soon!

Fiona, the Homebody Border Collie

Monday, September 24th, 2012

Fiona is a beautiful border collie that loves being at home! Her favorite activity is to play with her squeaky ball in her living room, closely followed by playing with her frisbee outside in the backyard. She just wouldn’t trade anything for being at home with her parents – she even loves the routine of playing in the backyard so much, that she’s worn down the grass in the specific path that she takes every time she goes out to play!

I really can’t blame her for loving her home and her usual routine so much. Lately, trips away from home have been to all sorts of vets’ offices, most lately the oncologist’s in Gainesville to get chemo medication. When leaving the house involves stuff like that, it’s no wonder Fiona’s a happy homebody. And in fact, we took a quick trip away from the house to visit my studio during our session, but I wanted to showcase images that show her at her “happy place” for this Sneak Peek! So here are a few images from her house:

Ball-focused? Yes, definitely!

Thank you for the honor of meeting your sweet girl, Julie. I can’t wait to show you the rest of the cute photos we got, very soon! :)

Dog Days of Summer 2012 – the First Annual Event!

Thursday, August 30th, 2012

When I was first asked to be on the planning committee for Dog Days of Summer, I had NO IDEA what a huge event and ridiculous amount of fun it would turn out to be! (Plus, all the planning meetings at La Hacienda Mexican restaurant were pretty delicious/wonderful too.) We designed the day to be similar to the Gulf Breeze Pet Fest or Pensacola’s huge Barktoberfest, but with one big difference: all proceeds would benefit the American Cancer Society. Human & canine cancer is so prevalent and any donation we could make would be worth the effort – so after several months of planning, August 18 was the big day! And guess what: the results are in, and we raised over $1000 for the American Cancer Society! YAY!

This post is full of just a few dogs from that day who stopped by to say hello! These photos will also be used to make a 2013 calendar, the proceeds from which will also benefit the American Cancer Society. (If you keep scrolling down, you’ll see some of the funny themes and props we put together for each month!) Stay tuned to the blog and the Facebook page for more info on how to get your copy!

Let’s start with a photo of the head organizer’s dog! This is Rusty, Becky’s boy, and he’s only about a year old – but I photographed him when he was a tiny puppy! It was so much fun to see him “all grown up” and much bigger than I remember!

This is cute little Dixie the basset hound!

Serious contender for cutest puppy at the event: Fiona the shepherd mix. I think she looks a bit like my Bailey! And WHAT a smile!

Rocky is another one of the organizer’s dogs – you really should check out Premier Pet Grooming if you’re in Milton!

Here are two Boston terriers, Odie & Charley. Adorable!

Conway is a chug (chihuahua/pug mix), don’t you love that underbite? And Sonny the lab mix will help us introduce the many props and costumes for each month…

Happy Cinco de Mayo! Ha!

Whew, there are a TON of photos in this post! But if you can’t get enough, check out the full day’s gallery here: http://proofs.allisonshamrell.com. More importantly, a HUGE thank-you goes out to everyone that came on the 18th, whether it was for several hours or just a short time! We really appreciate your support, and 100% of your donation went to the American Cancer Society! Thank you so much – and be on the lookout for more info about next year’s event!

Thwarted by the Rain: Bubba the Border Collie

Monday, July 23rd, 2012

You might remember Bubba the old border collie from his earlier post – and I have good news to report! He’s doing a bit better, and we got to schedule another session with him! So we had grand plans to visit a fantastically beautiful horse farm in Pace, and I was so excited to get together with the old guy and his mom Kim again. But sometimes the weather just doesn’t cooperate – and this was one of those times. Despite prayers and an anti-rain dance, the clouds opened up (literally as SOON as we were ready to start shooting!) and unfortunately stopped us from getting the most out of this gorgeous setting. Hopefully we can return to try again soon!
