Riley the Mini Goldendoodle Puppy in Encinitas, CA

Monday, October 10th, 2016

Are you ready for your day to get a whole lot better? Let me introduce you to Riley!

This little ball of fluff is an 8-week-old mini goldendoodle puppy, and I was so thrilled to meet her on her second day at home (!) with her new family in Encinitas! Everything in the world is brand new to her at this point, so I took my time introducing myself (and my camera) to her – but she’s an outgoing, confident little puppy, and she was happy to play with me all afternoon! (Well, let’s be honest, after only about 45 minutes she was falling asleep in her new family’s arms, haha!) So we had a lovely little photo session, and I was so honored to document this little beauty’s entrance into her new family’s world. And truthfully, I think Riley has hit the puppy lottery – her family is completely in love with her already, and she has a grassy yard, a spacious & comfy home, and I even spotted a pool in the backyard to enjoy (once she’s big enough to swim, of course). Can I come back in my next life and be Riley? :)

We started our photo session indoors, relaxing on the bed and playing on the living room floor. Riley already has a few favorite toys!

And then we headed outside for a bit of playtime in the grass! Riley is still figuring out the “leash” concept… so I decided to digitally remove the leash in this photo, since I think this little girl is going to have a serious independent streak, haha!

Okay, one more photo, just because I can’t resist. That is one cute puppy butt!

Deb & Mike, thank you for introducing me to the cutest little goldendoodle puppy I’ve ever seen (and the rest of your family too)! I’m excited to see you again soon! :)

Lira the Lagotto Romagnolo Puppy in San Diego, CA!

Friday, September 16th, 2016

My favorite kind of dog is… drumroll please… quite simply, a happy one. I love working with cheerful pups who don’t mind smiling for the camera – and while I’ve worked with dozens of labradors, retrievers, pit bulls & mutts over the years, I recently had the chance to photograph a very unique type of happy dog! Lira is a Lagotto Romagnolo, a breed recognized just last year by the AKC! I was so excited to meet a breed that I’ve never photographed before – because after being in business for almost 6 years, that doesn’t happen every day! But if every lagotto romagnolo is like Lira, then sign me up to work with all of them, haha!

Lira & her mom met me at Mission Trails Regional Park in San Diego for their photo session, and in fact, they agreed to help me out with a very special new project that I’m undertaking – more on that coming soon! But we had a (mostly) normal photo session, full of smiles & wags from miss Lira, and a ton of fun. And Lira’s mom Debbie is a talented photographer too – so I was even more honored to work with her sweet girl!

This is Lira – a fluffy, curly-haired, well-behaved, impeccably-trained, happy Lagotto Romagnolo!

Lira can really RUN! She’s so fast, and it was hilarious to see those fluffy ears bounce as she bounded toward us!

We ended our photo session with Lira in her rightful place as Queen of the Mountain. Clearly.

Debbie, thank you so much for introducing me to your darling girl! (And for being such a willing participant in our project!) I can’t wait to share the rest of our photos with you soon!

Daisy & Milo, Beagle Mix Dogs from San Diego

Thursday, September 8th, 2016

One day I was sitting at my computer, scrolling through Facebook, and I saw something that completely caught me off guard: one of my awesome clients had adopted a new puppy!! I was immediately over-the-moon excited for them, and it wasn’t long before we were emailing each other to coordinate a date & time for a photo session to capture their newest family member! And even better: these lovely clients happen to be in my Clients for Life program, meaning they never have to pay session fees! Ever! So it was incredibly quick & easy to set up a photo session with them, and I got to meet MILO!

If you’ve been following the blog for a while, you might remember Daisy, the bulldog & beagle mix. Her photo session was about a year ago, and she’s still very much a puppy, but now she has a new little brother named Milo to play with all day! Milo looks strikingly like Daisy – with similar coloring and markings – but they’re not related at all, he’s a rescue from California Labradors, Retrievers & More – and I personally think he hit the puppy jackpot with his new family! He seems to be a pit bull & beagle mix, or something like that, but time will tell as he gets older. He couldn’t be sweeter, and he’s surprisingly calm for a 13-week-old pup… which is a good thing, so he can balance out his older sister’s “wild child” energy, haha! All in all, I can’t remember the last time I was so tempted to steal a client’s puppy! (Just kidding… maybe.)

This sweet face belongs to Milo.  Swoon!

This is his older sister, Daisy! Striking a cute pose in the backyard!

We played in the backyard for a while… these two are seriously adorable together.

Here’s Milo with his family in the background… and as a reminder never to take puppies too seriously, he decided to chew on a stick for this photo. Just to mix things up a bit.

Kelli & Grayson, if Milo goes missing next week, don’t look for him at my house…

Quinzel the Mixed Breed Puppy in San Diego, CA (Photos)

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2016

I absolutely love it when past clients call me to document their family for a second time – especially when t’s because they’ve added a new pet to the mix! So I was thrilled when I heard that Nyx & Fae have a new puppy sibling!

Quinzel (named after Harley Quinn!) is an adorable mixed breed puppy who’s only about 4 months old. She’s sweet, intelligent and curious – and a total daddy’s girl! With those big ears, different-color eyes and pretty brindle coat, she was pretty much a photographer’s dream to work with. And despite how incredibly traumatic it was to be more than 5 feet away from her sisters at any time, haha, I was so happy to spend plenty of 1-on-1 time with this girl during our photo session. After all, her siblings already have their place on the walls at home – so it’s time for Quinn to have her space too!

This is Quinzel, the sweetest little mutt you could meet. Seriously, that mischievous little smile kills me.

And this is Nyx! If you’ve been following the blog for a while, it’s okay to do a double-take! The last time I photographed Nyx she was a tiny puppy – but she’s all grown up now! Her fluffiness factor has increased by about a million percent, too… she was so much fun to catch up with after all this time! (Well, at least after she finished barking at me, haha!)

And this is the true model of the family, Fae. She’s a corgi mix (perhaps mixed with with pomeranian? Long-haired chihuahua? Who knows!) and is a natural in front of the camera. Seriously, every time I see this little lady, I’m so impressed with her. Although during this photo session, she decided (as the resident professional) at one point that she was “done” posing! It was so cute to see her simply walk away from treats, the other dogs, etc. once she decided that she’d had enough. You just can’t fake it with dogs, haha!

Okay, I have to share one more of Quinzel, in her dad’s arms. This dog is seriously too cute.

Patrisha & Scott, I feel so honored to have met the newest member of your family! Thank you so much for introducing me to Quinzel – she hit the puppy lottery with you!  :)

Sadie & Cali, Chihuahua Mix Puppies!

Monday, August 22nd, 2016

Looking for your daily dose of adorable? You’ve come to the right place.

I am soooo excited to introduce you to Sadie & Cali! These dogs are chihuahua mix puppies living in San Diego, and I can already tell that they have a long, happy life ahead of them… they’re best friends and just too cute together. They wrestle as much as they possibly can – with full bodyslams! – and simply adore their parents. Sadie is 6 months old, and it wasn’t long after adopting her that her parents decided she would benefit from having a furry sibling. So they adopted Cali very recently – she’s only 8 weeks old now! – and I’m so happy for these chihuahua mix puppies to grow up together in such a great little family. Something tells me they’re going to be inseparable as the years go by!

This is Cali! At only 2 months old, she didn’t quite get the hang of the “photo session” idea until almost the end of our time together… but that’s okay! She was a fun little challenge to work with, since I rarely get to photograph dogs her age!

Stop it. Too cute.

And this is her “big” sister Sadie! (6 months old and weighing in at just a few pounds isn’t “big” by many standards, but it is in this case, haha!) How cute is her sideways-head-tilt?!

Things got pretty wild in the studio, too…

Sean & Reanna, thank you for introducing me to your puppies – and for helping wrangle them during our session, too! I’m looking forward to sharing the rest of our photos with you soon! :)
