Daly, the Big-Eyed Lab/Terrier Mix (aka Heinz 57!)

Friday, April 27th, 2012

Usually for Sneak Peeks, I try and choose a few of my favorite images from a quick browse through all the photos from a session. I usually settle on three or four pretty quickly; I’m a relatively decisive person (don’t know how I could be in this business otherwise!) and most times, my clients end up loving their Sneak Peek photos most of all!

This time is different. I was honored to spend a fabulous afternoon with Elaine and her pup Daly, and let me tell you what, I am having the hardest time picking any favorite photos! I’ve gone through her images so many times and my usual decisiveness has gone out the window. So here is a truly random assortment from our session! I still think they’re pretty cute :) Enjoy!

Daly’s story is so interesting: her mom rescued her from a big litter of puppies in New Orleans about eight months ago, and it turns out, one of Daly’s biological siblings came to live in Gulf Breeze too! She’s named Lizzie and looks much more like a labrador than Daly (they have a labrador mother, which I’d never guess just by looking at Daly)… but, together, you can’t hardly tell what either of them look like because they’re just one big blur of dog! It was sooooo funny to see them play together!

Elaine, I absolutely cannot wait to see you & Daly again. But first I have the monstrous task of picking the best photos out of your gallery – something I’m equally excited and terrified to do! Haha thanks for showing me such a fabulous afternoon, and I’ll be in touch soon!

3 Rat Terriers & a Papillon

Tuesday, April 17th, 2012

Oh, what a FUN session this was! I keep smiling when I look at these pictures. These four dogs have a pretty great life: a loving mom + dad, a huge backyard to hunt lizards and mole crickets, and agility trials to keep them extra busy! These pups just don’t know how good they have it! :)

I also love these dogs’ names: they go A-B-C-D! First up is B for Boomer, a sweetheart and toy hoarder.

D is for Dottie, who keeps a lookout in the yard. I imagine this is what her prey sees, seconds before the end… if I were a lizard and saw this look on her face, I’d be TERRIFIED.

Dottie sometimes looks less intimidating! (Cute ears, right?)

Here’s Arnie, the lone papillon and bark-a-holic…

And last but not least, Callie can be a real sweet girl…

Thanks for a wonderful session, Cindy! Now I get to start the task you gladly handed off to me: whittling down the MANY photos I took to the absolute best ones. It’s a good thing your dogs are so cute – I think you’ll have plenty to pick from when we get together again!

Pensacola’s 8th Annual Wiener Dog Races

Monday, April 16th, 2012

This past Saturday (April 14, 2012) was a beautiful day, with plenty of sunshine and a constant breeze – perfect weather for racing! Pensacola’s Wiener Dog Races are in their 8th year, and personally, I was pretty impressed at how organized and systematic the event was: there were divisions for every weight class (from 5 lbs all the way up to 20+ lbs) and each race was exciting! And to top it all off, proceeds from admission and food sales went to support the Florida Dachshund Rescue, a fantastic group of people that rehabilitate and re-home dachshunds in need. It was a fantastic day – check out all the fun we had in this video!

It was great to meet everyone there – and congrats again to the winners!

Kaylee the Old Golden Retriever Girl

Tuesday, April 10th, 2012

I don’t know what it is about golden retrievers. Sometimes I think they have a direct link to my soul. I love meeting them, I love photographing them, I love playing with them – and I’m so blessed that my job allows me to do all three! This is Kaylee, a beautiful old girl that was adopted by her parents only three years ago. She’s 11 years old, and has a lot of energy for a girl her age! I was pretty impressed at how many times she kept throwing around and jumping for her pink tennis ball! (yes, she throws it around!)

It pains me to show just a few photos of this pretty old girl. I may have to post more to my Facebook page this week… because on a quick glance through her session folder, I’m a BIT overwhelmed. In a good way, of course!! Enjoy these images!

This toy wasn’t in very good shape after about 5 minutes with Kaylee…

Don’t worry, Kiersten and Brandon, I didn’t cut off your heads in all the photos! :)

We ended the session by relaxing at home. I think Kaylee was pleased about that.

Thanks for a GREAT session, Kaylee! I can’t wait to go through the rest of your images!

A Bulldog and a BIG Lab Puppy: Deuce & Huntley

Friday, March 30th, 2012

This session was so much fun! I think it was especially interesting because we used our fair share of props, and while these dogs are both oh-so-handsome on their own, I think incorporating their favorite things really brought out their personalities! First, we used a stick, and this was not any old stick – it was brought from home, because Huntley the chocolate lab puppy has a love affair with it. And let me tell you what, getting his focus when I had the beloved stick in my hands was a piece of cake! The other prop was – well – edible. And I don’t recommend it for other dogs! But Deuce the English bulldog has, over time, built up a tolerance (and a love) for this particular food.

Since this is only the Sneak Peek, I can’t show you everything… but here are the handsome boys!

Did I mention it was a gorgeous afternoon in a pretty new park? Deuce is diggin’ it.

Okay, here’s a preview of Deuce’s snack…

Stay tuned for the rest of these boys’ photos! Thanks for such a great time at the park, Nicole & Andrew – I’ll be in touch very soon!
