Two Beautiful Golden Retrievers in Downtown Pensacola

Monday, November 19th, 2012

While I was selecting images for this Sneak Peek, my usual decisiveness went out the window! I typically don’t have a problem finding a few stand-out photos that I want to feature, but going through my photos from Tessa & Abbey’s session, I’m overwhelmed! So this blog post contains a few photos that I picked truly at random; I’m so excited to start going through the rest of our images!

A bit of back-story: Tessa (the slightly darker-colored girl) is a rescue from a truly horrible situation. She was tied and left outside someone’s house for – who knows? – possibly 2-3 years. When her parents adopted her, she didn’t know what treats or toys were. She’s only recently begun to play with her sister, Abbey (the light-colored girl). Abbey comes from a reputable breeder and hasn’t had any of the medical issues that poor Tessa was plagued by – in fact, she’s practically teaching Tessa how to be a dog! These sisters are an adorable pair and I had SO much fun with them and their parents during our session. But that’s enough words for now – let’s get to the photos!

They are such happy dogs!

Abbey & Tessa, you were a joy to work with. Thanks for delaying your dinner (gasp, it was horrible) so we could get some great photos!

A Couple of Handsome Blockheads

Saturday, November 10th, 2012

You know I say that with nothing but affection, right? I love dogs with big, solid heads – because look how big their smiles can get! :)

These boxers are named Molson (fawn & white) & Vaughn (brindle) and without a doubt, they are the most well-behaved boys I’ve worked with in over a year. No joke, no exaggeration – I think their parents should start a training business because they clearly do it very well! And I was thrilled about the dogs’ excellent recall, because it allowed us to get pretty creative! Here’s their Sneak Peek…

Aren’t they handsome?!

Last but not least, my personal favorite!! I love this photo so much!

Thanks for a wonderful session, April & Bobby! And I can’t thank Molson & Vaughn enough for being good listeners… their session is proof: great obedience helps me get great photos! :)

German Shepherd Dog & Puppy Photography

Friday, November 9th, 2012

Confession: I think German shepherds are beauuuutiful! I really do – they’re so so handsome but yet fluffy and lovable, and we think Bailey might be part shepherd (in addition to Rhodesian ridgeback, of course), so they rank in my top few favorite breeds. So when the winner of the session I gave away at Barktoberfest turned out to have a German shepherd, I was excited – but not as excited as when I learned that they were about to get another German shepherd, and a puppy at that!! It was so funny: I called Mary to let her know that she’d won the drawing and congratulate her, and she was literally in the car with her husband, on the way to pick up little Leah! Both Leah and her older sister Frannie are from The German Shepherd Rescue of Tulsa, so it was no quick drive – but of course, Frannie & Leah were each well worth the trip!

Mary & I actually spoke several weeks ago, but we decided to let Leah get acclimated to life with Frannie & their parents before plunging her into a photo session. Really, we probably could have gotten together weeks sooner: Leah is a totally confident puppy and was happy to play in the park with us! Frannie is definitely more skittish; she has a rocky past and her parents are doing a great job of socializing her and helping her gain more confidence. But I’ve been typing (and you’ve been reading) long enough – on to the Sneak Peek photos!

Miniature Pinschers with Attitude

Monday, November 5th, 2012

I can hardly think of a more FUN way of spending a Sunday morning than playing at the beach (and the park, and the studio) with a couple of min pins! They are such a fun breed and each one I’ve met has such a distinct personality! So I was absolutely thrilled when Ashley called me about Daisy and Harley, her and her mom’s min pins.

Daisy (the red-colored one) is 100% independent: she does what she feels like, and treats can only sometimes convince her otherwise! She was all about exploring our different locations – and barking at the ocean for the audacity it had to keep making waves. Harley, on the other hand, is a little more laid-back. Don’t get me wrong – he’s Daisy’s littler partner in crime! – but he was much more content to stick by his mom throughout most of the session, and little more willing to pose for treats. Together, they were a LOT of fun to work with, and I really loved our session! Here is their Sneak Peek of images:

Harley can levitate? Maybe! Haha, he’s a pretty fast runner for a little guy!

It’s official: I love min pin butts.

Last but not least we stopped by the studio… and tried out my fun new backdrop! What do you think? I love how Daisy looks against it!

See you soon, pups! :)

Gus: A Mixed Breed Dog with a Mixed Past

Sunday, November 4th, 2012

Gus is one very lucky dog: after his first family had to give him up and another family didn’t take good care of him, Gus was saved from the animal shelter on the DAY he was supposed to be euthanized! I am so glad that P.A.W.S. (a rescue organization in Ft. Walton Beach) picked him up and delivered him to a foster family. And after that, it wasn’t long before Karla found him! Gus and Karla make an adorable pair; he never wants to be far from her but always seems to be testing exactly what he can get away with… plus; isn’t he handsome? And isn’t she beautiful! Clients like this make my job quite a bit easier! :) Gus is a hound/boxer mix, and I think whatever’s in him mixed very well, don’t you?

We started out at the park, where Gus had quite a time running up and down the wooden walkways…

We had a pretty foggy morning – and look what it did to the bay! You can hardly see the horizon! I thought it was beautiful, and I’d never seen such an effect before. I’m glad we got a few photos that captured the surreal setting.

Thanks for making the trip out from Ft. Walton Beach all the way to Pensacola, Gus & Karla! I had a great morning with you two, and something tells me your gallery is going to be huuuuge… It’s a good problem to have though, I promise! :) Keep an eye on the Facebook page because I might not be able to resist posting another photo or two there!
