Sneak Peek: Max & Cole ~ {Ft. Walton Beach Pet Photography by Allison Shamrell}

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

Max and Cole are brothers – maybe not biologically, but perhaps in every other sense of the word. Cole is the older one that moves a little slower and generally tries to do his own thing – and he’s certainly old enough to be the stubborn one. (Although he’s a softie for a belly rub, as you’ll see in a minute!) Max, on the other hand, still has puppy-esque rambunctious energy, and I think his inner monologue goes something like this: “gotta see this! gotta sniff this! who is this! hello new friend! ooh what’s over there? let’s RUN TO IT!”

You know what’s funniest about these two? Watching Max pick a fight with Cole! They don’t really fight, of course, but there’s plenty of growling and teeth and and play-biting. You get the sense Max has woken up a sleeping bear and just doesn’t know when to stop! (It helps that Cole kind of looks like a bear.)

I’ll let you guess who’s who from the photos:

Thanks for a great early-morning session with your furkids, Theresa!

Sneak Peek: Ada Mae ~ {Pensacola Pet Photography by Allison Shamrell}

Friday, August 12th, 2011

This session has been a long time in the making! I first met Miss Ada Mae (and her mom, Nora) at an event in Panama City Beach back in March. They’ve kindly kept in touch ever since, and the fabulous duo made the trip 4-hour round trip here to my studio in Pensacola for a session! So I was thrilled to see them again, of course!

Ada Mae is incredibly behaved for a one-year-old dog that’s two parts Chihuahua, one part dachshund, and one part rat terrier (did I get that right Nora?)! Enjoy just a few photos of this lovely girl!

She’s got a big pair of ears for such a small dog!

I think her fur is just beautiful. You can see different colors of spots on her chest!

We tried out a fun new background color!

Thanks again for making the trip, Nora! I hope you both enjoyed your Whataburger on the way home! :)

The Dogs of The Spotted Dog ~ {Pensacola, FL Pet Photography by Allison Shamrell}

Saturday, August 6th, 2011

I was so thrilled to hear that The Spotted Dog was opening its doors in Pensacola last month! This city is certainly overdue for a dog boutique. The Spotted Dog is co-owned by Sandy and Ashley, a fabulous mom-and-daughter duo, and I can’t tell you how incredible their shop is! For being brand new, they certainly seem to know exactly what all kinds of people want – whether it’s rugged leather collars for your mastiff or cute spring dresses for your schnoodle… Okay, I know I sound like a commercial by now, but seriously. This boutique rocks my socks off.

Even better: Sandy and Ashley let me photograph their dogs! So we spent a bit of time in the studio, and a bit of time back at the shop. Ashley (the daughter) has Bentley the dark brown pit bull, and Bunny, the white-as-a-ghost inspiration for the name “The Spotted Dog”! Can you see her spots? Sandy (the mom) owns Lana the playful pit bull and Tiger, the old shepherd.

Here are a few of their images!

A somewhat silly family portrait!

Lana actually has completely normal ears. But she wanted to look extra cute for her pictures, so they went flying!

Las but not least – a goofy outtake from our session! There were a few good caption ideas for this photo on Facebook!

Leave a comment on this post if you’ve got a funny caption!

I also wanted to include a short video I made for them, featuring their product offerings. Don’t they have a beautiful store?

So there you have it – a new part of Pensacola that I’m personally very excited about. You should definitely stop in sometime soon!

Ladies Night Out! ~ {Ft. Walton Beach Pet Photography by Allison Shamrell}

Saturday, July 16th, 2011

This Thursday night, dozens of ladies and their dogs came out to 3 Dogs & A Chick for July’s downtown Ft. Walton Beach Ladies Night Out! (That’s a mouthful, haha!) Anyways, this is a fun, once-a-month outing that’s hosted by one of the downtown businesses. Next month it’ll be the new cupcake shop next door, Cupcakes By the Beach! But this month 3 Dogs and A Chick stepped up to the plate, and bunches of two-legged and four-legged ladies made their appearance. It was a lot of fun, and people won a LOT of door prizes! (As luck would have it, the prize I donated went to one of my recent clients… but she’s going to pass it on to a friend, so everybody wins!)

It was great to meet everyone that came out – and I mean everyone! Here are some of the happy faces I got to see on Thursday.

Saber, Tayte, & Zara – and an announcement! ~ {Ft. Walton Beach, FL Pet Photography by Allison Shamrell}

Sunday, May 8th, 2011

This wise old man, sweet old girl, and crazy young lady all live together with their mom, the fabulous Nicole of 3 Dogs & A Chick. It was a lot of fun to meet them and hang out in their (awesome) yard, photographing the way they simply always are. I’ll remember this session for how relaxed it was – more than just because we didn’t try for any running and jumping photos! There is a calm about these dogs, this household, that is enviable. You could feel the sense of harmony as these pups happily wandered around, sniffing the leaves and monitoring the squirrel activity among the trees. It was almost therapeutic, so thank you, Nicole, for opening your family to me and my lens.

Plus, a big piece of good news from the Porch Patrol!

Allison Shamrell Photography will officially be INVADING 3 Dogs & A Chick for mini-sessions at the end of this month!

That’s right, you can sign up now for a time slot on Saturday, May 28th to get photos like these of your own mutts! Here’s what you can look forward to:

~  30 minutes of session time with Allison, which will be spent capturing the personality of your dog(s) in a fun, no-stress, non-posed way!

~  That’s enough time to result in at least fifteen images you’ll want to frame. I guarantee it. (Probably more, but I like to under-promise and over-deliver.)

~  Completely amazing backgrounds to work with: the spacious park and dock area behind 3 Dogs & A Chick, the cute courtyard of the shop’s previous location, and a studio backdrop inside. Basically, more variety than you’ll be able to handle.

~  A private, password-protected online gallery of your images, so you can look them over dozens of times before deciding on your favorites.

~  A hands-on look at the entire product line-  there’s so much more than prints! You’ll see everything I have to offer.

~  20% off all of these products for timely orders!

~  A custom video slideshow like the one you just watched in this blog post.

~  As many phone conversations, emails, video chats, and letters-by-pigeon as you need to determine what’s best for your house and lifestyle. I want to give you something you absolutely love – and nothing less!

Since this is half the time of The Beagle Package, it’s also half the price. $65 will get you everything listed here, plus an 11×14 print and digital image of your favorite photo! Those two goodies alone are a $55 value… do the math!

To make an appointment: call 3 Dogs & A Chick at 850.243.7297, or stop by in person. Courtesy of their website, here is a map to their (new) location.

Grab your time slot today, before they’re gone! (Can’t make it on Saturday? Call the shop anyway, and let them know you’d like to be placed on the waiting list if Sunday opens up. With enough interest, I’ll be there Sunday as well.)

Do you live in Pensacola, and driving to Ft. Walton Beach sounds like too long to spend in a car with your dog? Perhaps one of my standard sessions will suit your needs. See your options here.

And of course you can contact me with any questions you have. My email address is allison@allisonshamrell.com and I can’t wait to hear from you!
