The Park and the Beach with a Husky Puppy and Boxer/Basset Hound Mix

Monday, April 9th, 2012

I first met Angus (the 4-year-old boxer/basset hound mix) and Denali (the husky puppy) at 3 Dogs & A Chick‘s Easter Egg Hunt just two weeks ago. I pretty much melted when I first saw Denali; I think she’s strikingly beautiful! Those markings – those eyes!! I absolutely couldn’t wait to photograph her, and as it turns out, once I started shooting, Angus was even more of a delight to work with! His soulful, hound face had us laughing the entire session.

Here’s the Sneak Peek of your images, Chae & Jarred! I’ll be in touch soon to figure out when we can get together again. Enjoy!

Premium Albums: The Leather Cover

Thursday, March 29th, 2012

Ahhhh, we’re here. This post reveals the last Premium Album that I offer, from one more totally separate album provider. This is the album I’ve been most excited about all along, for two reasons. First of all, it’s leather, and leather is always what I’ve envisioned as being a huge characteristic of a top-of-the-line photography album. I suppose I have a soft spot for it. Secondly, this album features my favorite dog in the world: my girl Bailey.

The box it comes in is leather, and has a small magnetic closure.

Oh. Oh yes. Take in that leather.

And the imprinting of Bailey’s name on the cover…

I hope you can see the texture of the leather. It’s top-of-the-line, and I could tell you the technical qualifications a quality guarantees surrounding it… but suffice to say, it’s NICE. And not just “nice”… I mean NICE.

The pages have a substrate in-between them that’s actually a different color than the prints. I think it gives the album’s side view a really distinctive look!

A black spread to start…

Could these pages be any flatter? They’re so flat they’re bending back with the cover! I love that they lay directly against it like that.

Sigh. I know I’m a nerd for swooning over an album… but that’s okay with me.

Oh hey Bailey! Here’s an example of a spread – you can see that there’s a seam in the middle (not really a gutter, per se) but it’s so thin that in the 24-inch span of this book (it measures 12×12 when closed) I think it hardly makes any difference in the overall layout.

More leather texture. Man I wish you could feel this through your screen…

I know these photos haven’t done this album (or the photo-cover one, or the silk one) justice. But I hope you can see a small part of why I’ve been so, so excited for a very long time to introduce these products. They are at the very top of the line, the best of the best in the photography industry, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to offer them to my clients!

Thanks for taking a look!

Foster Puppy Mustang!

Wednesday, March 14th, 2012

If you’re a fan of the Facebook page, then you already know the big news: we have a foster puppy! His name is Mustang (love that name!), he’s 3 months old, and we think he’s a husky-lab mix. I’m about to gush over how cute he is, but here’s the most important part of this blog post: Mustang is looking for his forever home. He’s adoptable through the Junior Humane Society of Pensacola and you can reach them at 850-968-3260 if you have any questions. I can personally attest to his fantastic, loving personality. He’s got a great little spirit and would love to spend half his days romping around a nice backyard, and the other half snuggling up to you! This boy really is a snuggler.

(Side note: regular blog readers will notice the different way I’ve included vertical photos: now they’re side-by-side! I hope this will make them easier to scroll through… I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!)

We started out the week with a bath, poor guy. I think for a few minutes he regretted leaving the Jr. Humane Society.

I think he was in shock/disbelief. But he was a few shades whiter when he came out of the tub!

These photos made quite a splash on Facebook… isn’t he adorable? (Trust me, the second photo is 100% Mustang!)

I love those little forehead wrinkles. Maybe he has some pointer in him?

His favorite pose. Seriously, this is all day long. He’s all about the belly-rubs.

His “big sister” may have taught him how to pose…

I can’t get enough of his NOSE!

Arguably one of my favorite things about puppies: their head tilts are frequent and easy to get!

I think he looks cynical here… “Really? I got the crazy foster mom with the camera?”

If you have any questions about Mustang, please ask in the comments or contact me directly. He’s SO much fun and the sweetest little boy! I know he’d love to meet you!

Christmas Pet Portraits! ~ {Pensacola and Ft. Walton Beach Pet Photography by Allison Shamrell}

Friday, December 23rd, 2011

With Christmas coming up so soon, I thought you might like to see the results of the Christmas Sessions from earlier this month! I set up my studio in The Spotted Dog and 3 Dogs & A Chick, and a bunch of families came in to have their Christmas portraits taken. It was a lot of fun, and a bit chaotic – let’s just say I’m glad I splurged on the “shatter-resistant” ornaments!

Here’s a fun video I put together featuring many of the attendees we had – and I kept it to just photos of the dogs, even though we had plenty more portraits of everyone’s whole family! Enjoy!

Gulf Breeze Pet Fest ~ {Gulf Breeze Pet Photography by Allison Shamrell}

Sunday, November 20th, 2011

Yesterday (Saturday) was the 2011 Gulf Breeze Pet Fest! It was a lot of fun – until Mother Nature decided she didn’t like the idea of peaceful weather. So up until that moment (when three 10×10′ tents went flying, and my portraits came crashing down from their display stands) everyone was having a great time! Check out some of the adorable dogs I got to meet before having to pack up my booth…

This sweetheart wanted to snuggle up next to her Dad the whole time!

Rayne was a wonderful familiar face to see!

Bailey was the only one in her family who felt like saying hello to me…

But doesn’t her sibling Jace have the most beautiful coloring?

Tally the lab – I love her eyes!

I also adore this pomeranian’s coloring.

This is Treu, the smallest pit bull I’ve ever seen! Definitely a sweetheart, and tennis ball-obsessed!

Haha – I’m pretty sure this is Treu’s “look how good I am beeeeiiiinnnggggg” face!

Some visitors decided they needed to see my work up close…

Aaaand we have the winner for cutest pup of the day!

Honestly? I would like to steal him.

Gumbo the Maltese is a close runner-up, though. Wrapped up against mom’s chest was the warmest place to be that day!

This is Sydney, the windswept Australian Terrier!

Some dogs were there to PLAY! This is Buster, the shorthaired pointer.

Such sweet eyes.

And since the last session giveaway I did was so fabulous, I decided to hold another drawing for a free session.

This is the winner! Meet Amore the Maltese, and you’ll be seeing more of this adorable pup soon!

I’ll leave you with one more of this little dude. Have a great week!
