A few good dogs- and cats! ~ {Milton, Florida Pet Photographer Allison Shamrell}

Saturday, October 23rd, 2010

Here are a few of the adoptable dogs at Santa Rosa County Animal Services in Milton! They all deserve a great new home, so stop by and meet a few of these pups and kitties! I can’t encourage you enough to visit shelters in your search for a new family member; all of these dogs have nothing wrong with them, just something wrong with their previous owners. In this economy, nothing is for certain, and these boys and girls have had a rough start. But that shouldn’t stop you from giving them a very happy ending.

Thanks for all your help, Tammy! I had a great time photographing these wonderful pets- they’ll all be such good family members one day!

Polkaspot ~ {Pensacola Beach, Florida Pet Photographer Allison Shamrell}

I met with Ashley this week for an awesome shoot on- well, an undisclosed location :)  We had a lot of fun playing with Polkaspot, who’s named for the big brown spot on her back. These photos are actually a gift for Polka’s owner, who happens to be in San Diego with the US military. What a great gift for someone who really deserves it!

Polka was a fun, happy dog to work with- she’s not so great at “stay”, but I’ve never seen a dog that’s quicker at “come here”!

The Puppy Shop of Pensacola, a.k.a. the “awwww” factory ~ {Pensacola, Florida Pet Photographer Allison Shamrell}

This week I did some advertising work for The Puppy Shop, a store in Cordova Mall that sells pet supplies as well as a large selection of puppies! They specialize in toy breeds, and it definitely shows- stop in and get ready to say “awwww”. And they are fully accredited; no need to worry about disreputable breeders or any similar horror stories. Ask for records of any dog, and they’re handed over willingly, as well as certifications of good health from two different veterinarians! The owner of The Puppy Shop, Tony, has good relationships with trustworthy breeders that go back 10+ years. So if you decide you’ve just got to have a purebred puppy, I highly suggest you pay The Puppy Shop a visit!

Happy Bailey! ~ {Pensacola Beach, Florida Pet Photography Allison Shamrell}

Monday, October 18th, 2010

I’m usually a stickler for technical quality in a photo. I’m talking about proper framing, appropriate depth of field, that sort of thing. But when it comes to a photo with this much raw emotion in it, I know all the other things I usually worry about pretty much go out the window. So while this isn’t what I would call a great photo, how can you not be a little bit happier than you were a minute ago when you see a dog this thrilled to be at the beach?

This is Bailey, a one-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. We got her from the Jr. Humane Society, and I think this photo is proof that shelter dogs know what hard times are, and appreciate you and your family more than you know. Plus, her huge smile really gives Seuss the Dalmatian (see earlier post) a run for his money!  I hope this photo brightens your day.

Now if only I can get her to stop digging in our new backyard…

Charlee & Toby ~ {Pensacola, Florida Pet Photography Allison Shamrell}

Thursday, October 14th, 2010

I just spent some time tonight with the wonderful owners of these two hilarious dogs, and we had a great time picking out which photos they’re going to order! Charlee is the dapple dachshund, and Toby is the playful mix- they make a funny pair together! Check out these photos from our romp in the yard!

Amber- LOVE the bedspread!  Thanks again for letting me use it!
