I ventured into new territory (literally) for my most recent session! I shared a lovely afternoon of gorgeous soft light doing a bit of San Marcos pet photography with the dogs of Dogs Abound! Dogs Abound is a brand-new canine care facility in San Marcos – so brand new that it isn’t (technically) open yet, haha! Once the city issues their stamp of approval & the doors are open, they’ll be a fabulous new center for boarding, daycare, training, and all sorts of great things for local dogs. But while the loose ends are getting tied & the finishing touches are being put on the facility, one of the owners (Liz) contacted me about decorating their lobby area. She said she wanted to work with a local artist & display photos of dogs in the community – which, of course, is music to my ears! haha! I was thrilled to meet Liz & Lu Ann in person soon afterwards, and they even gave me a peek at their facility as things were still under construction! It’s a huge place and I can already tell that they’re going to have some really great services for local dogs & customers. So exciting! :)
So the other day we visited Simmons Family Park for a few photos of Liz & Lu Ann’s dogs! Forest is a miniature pinscher/Italian greyhound mix, on the left. I love his “serious face”! Isn’t he a handsome dog? And Diego is the aptly-named chihuahua on the right… although technically I think Diego I’ll-Do-Anything-For-Cheese Randall is his full name.
And here’s Phineas – Finn for short – the action superstar of our session! This dog – let me tell you – he would fetch until he literally keeled over, if you let him. Liz tells me they keep balls hidden away at home, out of sight, because otherwise he’d go ball-crazy all day long. And I believe her – this dog does. not. stop.
And last but not least, this is one of Lu Ann’s pack, Buster the shih tzu. Little Buster has his father wrapped around his paw – and with that face, I can see why! How cute is he?!
We also took some great group photos – of all 4 pups and both Dogs Abound owners (whew, that’s a lot of subjects) – but I’ll save those for another time, since I typically like to check with my clients before posting their faces on the internet! And who knows: if you visit the Dogs Abound lobby after they open for business, you just might see it hanging there!
Liz & Lu Ann, thank you for a wonderful afternoon in the park. I had a great time working with your 4-leggers, and now I can personally vouch for your training program after seeing their obedience in action! Seriously – they were a dream to work with. I hope you & the dogs had fun too – I’ll see you soon! :)
