The Problem and the Solution ~ {Pensacola, Florida Pet Photographer Allison Shamrell}

Wednesday, December 8th, 2010

I hate to say it, but we have a serious problem coming up. Have you realized what’s going on?

It’s December.

Next month will be January.

Of 2011.

That’s right, a new year. Which means the calendar you’re using right now- right now!- will be completely useless!!! And I don’t want to see you scratching days into your wall like a sad, marooned island-dweller. I have a solution to this problem. And not only is it functional; it is adorable.

Announcing the Pooches of the Panhandle 2011 Calendar! Each month features a dog (or dogs) from the Pensacola area, and proceeds will be going to a local to-be-announced good cause! So you can look at photos of beautiful dogs all year, know that you’ve done something good for this community, and not have to guess what day of the week the 9th of June is. I’m not going to tell you, either- the calendars hold the answer.

So here is the promotional poster you might see hanging up in your local vet or groomer’s. Click on the link below to see a few sample months.  They’re just $15 each, so to order one or more, just send me a message through my website, www.AllisonShamrell.com. You can do so under the “Contact Me” tab. Thanks, and I hope you like them!

Happy Bailey! ~ {Pensacola Beach, Florida Pet Photography Allison Shamrell}

Monday, October 18th, 2010

I’m usually a stickler for technical quality in a photo. I’m talking about proper framing, appropriate depth of field, that sort of thing. But when it comes to a photo with this much raw emotion in it, I know all the other things I usually worry about pretty much go out the window. So while this isn’t what I would call a great photo, how can you not be a little bit happier than you were a minute ago when you see a dog this thrilled to be at the beach?

This is Bailey, a one-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. We got her from the Jr. Humane Society, and I think this photo is proof that shelter dogs know what hard times are, and appreciate you and your family more than you know. Plus, her huge smile really gives Seuss the Dalmatian (see earlier post) a run for his money!  I hope this photo brightens your day.

Now if only I can get her to stop digging in our new backyard…

A little relaxation…

Perhaps the calm before the storm? :)

We did some boating and waterskiing on Escambia Bay, right off the eastern coast of Pensacola. I love the natural background in these! I only got to take a few shots of my studly husband before the seas got a little too choppy for my camera. Thank goodness no one picked it back up when I got out there… I guess the proof of my awesome flips and amazing maneuvers will have to wait until next time.

I love the way the water curls up underneath the board! It looks exactly like the huge waves that appear out on the ocean. And look, no oil!

Sorry these pictures are a little oddly-formatted; I’m still finding my way around WordPress.
